Tommy Williams
A Respected Tactician of Legislative & Regulatory Affairs
Tommy Williams is dedicated to getting his clients results in the legislative and regulatory arena.
He learned the ropes of Texas state government first as an accomplished state legislator 1997-2013 (6 years as a State Representative and 10 years as a State Senator). During his legislative career, Tommy chaired three different State Senate committees including Finance, Transportation and Administration.
After retiring from the Texas Legislature, Tommy then served as Vice-Chancellor for Federal and State Relations for the Texas A&M System and later as Senior Advisor for Fiscal Matters for Governor Greg Abbott.
Prior to and during his legislative career, Williams ran a successful financial services firm in The Woodlands, Texas. He was raised in Marshall, Texas, and is a graduate of Texas A&M with a BBA in Accounting.
From October 2025 to May 2026, Tommy served as Interim President of Texas A&M University, leading the university through a critical period — including curriculum reform, health and medicine partnerships, and protecting Aggies abroad during an international crisis. The Texas A&M University System Board of Regents formally recognized his service upon his departure. Tommy has since returned to Williams Public Affairs full-time and is once again available to advocate on behalf of clients before the Texas Legislature and state agencies.
